At our Middle School in Pembroke Pines, students aged 11 to 14 learn in an environment designed specifically for the adolescent years. Rooted in Montessori principles, they engage in rigorous academic studies alongside meaningful, real-world work, growing as confident, caring, independent global citizens. Through mastery-based assessment, students show deep understanding in projects, presentations, writing, and lab work. Annual standardized tests, including the SAT, provide an external benchmark, often reflecting above-grade-level performance.
Students also curate academic portfolios that highlight their growth over time and set new personal goals.
Students strengthen executive functioning skills such as time management, planning, organization, self-monitoring, and task prioritization. Interpersonal and social-emotional skills grow through collaboration, conflict resolution, empathy, emotional regulation, and respectful communication.

Students show strong English mastery as they expand vocabulary, deepen comprehension of complex texts, practice literary analysis, and refine essay writing.
They earn high school credits and reach higher‑level fluency in Spanish through advanced courses, building on enrichment begun in the Infant years. Additional language opportunities in French and German, offered through extracurricular clubs, further broaden their linguistic and cultural horizons.
Students take part in ILOS (International Learning Opportunities for Students) programs, which extend learning far beyond the classroom and help them grow as confident, well-rounded individuals. Through activities such as ISP Chess, ISP Artist, ISP Scientist, ISP Virtual Exchange and ISP Changemakers, they develop personal resilience, teamwork and leadership while exploring their passions, collaborating with peers from other schools and taking on meaningful challenges in a global context.
Students also take part in continent-themed projects and events that highlight traditions, languages, and daily life from around the globe. Learning extends beyond the classroom with field trips connected to history, science, and geography, as well as cooking experiences that let children taste and prepare foods from different cultures.
At our Middle School in Pembroke Pines, students are intentionally prepared for the challenges of high school and the opportunities that come after it. Graduates are accepted to 100% of their high schools of choice, with many earning scholarships through the Excelsior Program at Archbishop McCarthy High School.
Equally important, however, is who our students become. Every day, they embrace core values such as grace and courtesy, kindness, self-confidence, and perseverance. Students learn to communicate respectfully, support others, advocate for themselves, and persist through challenges. By the time they leave our Middle School, they are not only academically prepared and strong critical thinkers, but also independent, responsible young people who are ready to contribute as citizens and future leaders in a global community.
I can honestly say that Montessori Academy has been able provide an excellent experience for each one of our 3 very different children. Our oldest is now taking honors classes at a college preparatory high school and scored in the 80th percentile overall on her PSAT, 87th percentile in reading and writing.
